Get To Know

Dr. Kelvin Chou

Dr. Chou was originally born in Taiwan, but he was raised in Chicago for most of his life. His uncle was a general dentist, and his mother and his aunts all worked with him. From the age of 14, Dr. Chou also took a job at his uncle’s practice, and that’s when he truly fell in love with dentistry.

After college, Dr. Chou went to the University of Illinois Chicago for dental school, graduating in 2010. Then, Dr. Chou worked with his uncle for two years until he decided to serve his country and join the Navy in 2012.

During his time as a Navy dentist, he was stationed in several countries including Japan. Dr. Chou became interested in endodontics as a specialty, and undertook a residency through the Navy Postgraduate Dental School, earning his certification in 2017.

After graduating, Dr. Chou was lucky enough to be stationed in San Diego in 2017 and fell in love with the area. Dr. Chou decided to leave the Navy in 2024 after 12 years of service and open up his own endodontic practice in San Diego.

Though he’s a newly independent dentist, the principles of honor, integrity, and service that Dr. Chou learned in the Navy still guide him. He’s passionate about serving others, ensuring the comfort of each patient, and providing the very best standards of care.

Outside of the office, Dr. Chou is kept busy being a father to his three children. When he gets some time for himself, he enjoys hydroponic gardening, playing basketball, and working out at his local CrossFit gym.

Meet Your Endodontic Care Team

Whether you need a simple root canal or a more complex endodontic treatment, our team will be with you every step of the way. We take pride in providing an exceptional experience at Elite Endodontics of San Diego.

What To Expect

Your First Visit

Once you’ve been referred by your general dentist, you’ll come to Elite Endodontics of SD for your treatment. After checking in, you can sit back and relax in our well-appointed waiting area. When it’s time for your visit, one of our team members will bring you back to see Dr. Chou.

Dr. Chou will look at all of the information that your dentist sends over about your case. And if needed, he will also perform additional exams and take digital x-rays or 3D CBCT images of your mouth. These will help prepare a comprehensive treatment plan.

Once he’s developed your plan, Dr. Chou will clean and numb your mouth, then provide the endodontic treatment you need for a healthy smile. We offer a variety of sedation options to keep you comfortable during your visit.

Then, after your treatment is over, you’ll be sent home with recovery instructions to follow. You’ll need to see your general dentist for your final dental restoration, which will usually be a dental crown. Dr. Chou will work closely with your dentist to make sure your treatment is as successful as possible.
